Welcome to my engineering portfolio! I’m Aadam Awad, an aspiring engineer studying Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University. I’ve previously interned with Astranis Space Technologies and Olympian Motors.
I’m passionate about building simple, high-performance systems to create a sci-fi future.

FEATURED PROJECTS:
- Coaxial Pneumatic Valve – Custom designed and machined nitrous oxide valve, powering 1200 lbf hybrid rocket motor. PTFE-sealed, 1″ orifice diameter, and < 20ms actuation. Recipient of best podium presentation at FAR-OUT 2024, subsequently flown and recovered successfully.
- 2023-24 Nitrous Oxide Tank – Improved pressure vessel design that reduced dry mass by 7% relative to 2022-23, while increasing in overall length from 36″ to 54″. Flown and recovered successfully in June 2024.
- Viper High-Powered Rocket – Certification solid rocket, awarded my L1 and L2 certification from NAR and reaching an apogee of 3200′
- Autogenous Pressurization Simulations – Thermodynamic model of nitrous oxide tank blowdown for determining optimal fill conditions on the 23-24 vehicle.
